Landslides on the road leading to the Georgian border haven’t stopped, “NewsArmenia” reports, citing the press-service of the Ministry of Transport and Communications. The Wednesday’s landslide on 114th km resulted in a 150 meter road havoc, which connects the highways Yerevan-Sevan-Idjevan-Georgian border.
The same day the Minister of Transport and Communications Manuk Vardanyan and the Minister of Emergency Situations Armen Yeritsyan left to Tavush region to see the situation themselves and find possible solutions of the problem. The Minister of Transport and Communications assigned the corresponding authorities, including the project commission, to make preliminary investigations and give possible variants for temporary exploitation of the road, and construction of a bypass road.
Preliminary investigation is planned to be done in the nearest future for the government consideration. The press-service of the Ministry of Transport and Communications also said that passenger transport contines to operate even after the landslide, although some changes were made in their schedule. Mainly, passenger transportation between Idjevan-Yerevan-Idjevan reaches Idjevan using a bypass road through Berd. Berd-Yerevan-Berd uses the same route. Yet, Noemberian-Yerevan-Noemberian route is using the Yerevan-Alaverdi-Noemberian road.
