The education minister of Azerbaijan, Misir Mardanov, and the governor of Georgia’s Kvemo-Kartli region, David Kirkitadze, have discussed institutes of higher education from Azerbaijan establishing branches in Tbilisi, Trend news agency reports
An Education Ministry statement said that in the course of the meeting with the governor, Mardanov also discussed the possibilities of teaching the Georgian language in Azerbaijan.
The minister noted the special attention paid to Georgian in schools in the Azerbaijani regions of Qakh, Balakan and Zaqatala.
In turn, Kirkitadze said the Georgian government had allocated funds for the renovation and development of the Azeri schools in Kvemo-Kartli, and spoke about a new concept of education in Georgia.
