Fenerbahce FC has filed a note to the Court of Arbitration for Sports
(CAS) of UEFA and the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) to challenge
its ban from the Champions League, Reuters reports.
UEFA insisted that TFF ban the football club for 19 fixed matches in
the previous season on August 24. The scandal about fixed matches
started in early July. Over 60 people were involved, including
Feberbahce FC President Aziz Yildirim. Trabzonsport FC replaced
Fenerbahce FC in the Champions League.
Fenerbahce FC hired two lawyers on September 1. It is demanding
compensation of 45 million euros and compensation for all material
expenses the club suffers. The ban from the Champions League caused a
drop in income of 25 million euros.
The club demands a temporary return to the league. The TFF offered it
a football second division place, refusing to appeal the league in
August.
