Russian free wrestler Natalya Vorobyova won a gold medal in the weight category under 72 kg, beating Stanka Christova (Bulgaria).
Nadezhda Torlopova (Russia) lost to Clarisse Shields (USA) in a match under 75 kg. Sofya Ochigava (Russia) lost to Katie Tailor (Ireland). It was the first and perhaps the final Olympic award Ireland earned in this year’s Olympics.
Russian oarsmen Ilia Pervukhin and Alexey Korovashkov won a bronze medal.
World Champion of 2009 Yulia Ratkevich (Azerbaijn) won a bronze medal in free wrestling in category under 55 kg, beating 19-year old Valeria Zholobova (Russia). She won the first rounds 6:0 and the second ones 2:1. Azerbaijan has 5 medals.
Mohammad Bageri Motamed won a silver medal, the ninth medal for Iran, in Taekwondo. Iran has 4 golds.
Servet Tazegul (Turkey) won a gold medal in Takewondo under 68 kg. It is the first gold for Turkey and the second medal for the country overall. Tazegul won 6:5 (1:1, 4:2, 1:2). Rohulah Nikpah (Afghanistan) and Terrence Jennings (USA) won bronze medals. Nikpah won the first medal for the country.
