Chechen mountaineers conquer Europe's highest peak

Chechen mountaineers have climbed the highest peak in Europe, Mount Elbrus in Kabardino-Balkaria (5642 m), the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov wrote on his account in Instagram.

"These are the first Chechen mountaineers to climb to the top of Mount Elbrus," Kadyrov said. "Currently, the Mountaineering Federation of the Chechen Republic is preparing to climb the highest point of the Chechen Republic and the eastern Caucasus, which hasn't been conquered yet, Mount Tebulosmta (4492 m), and the highest point in the world, Mount Everest (8848 m)."

The conquest of the peak was dedicated to the first president of the Chechen Republic, the Hero of Russia Akhmad-Hadji Kadyrov, whose birthday is celebrated tomorrow, on August 23.
