"Sassoon braves" have laid their weapons down. Antiterrorist operation on liberation of the PPS regiment building in Yerevan is over, the Armenian National Security Service reports.
"Consistent and coordinated actions by special units of law enforcement agencies forced members of the armed group to lay down their weapons and surrender to the authorities. 20 terrorists were detained. The territory of PPS regiment is completely liberated,’’ Armenia Sputnik cites the agency’a text messages.
Tonight spokesman for the opposition of the civil organization "Founding parliament" Varuzhan Avetisyan was in a contact with journalists and stated that "brave men" were ready to lay down their arms.
"Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Karabakh, retired general Vitaliy Balasanyan, was a negotiator who held a telephone conversation.
"We believe a popular uprising was implemented, there is a popular movement. We do not want the blood of these people, as we are faced with people who perform their duties. We will continue to fight in the status of prisoners of war. A popular uprising will continue, our people have to fight, we will not allow our country to become a Russian province. We feel that victory is to come soon, and we urge the Armenian people to make a decision by making a positive step. We have just started and the people will continue,’’ Avetisyan said.
Earlier this afternoon, "Sassoon braves" wrote on their page on Facebook that they consider that their mission is over, as the launched movement was significantly supported.
Around the same time representative of the Coordinating Council on the organization of rallies in support of the "Sassoon brave" Albert Baghdasaryan stated about the termination of the work of this body.
According to him, most of the participants of the coordinating council were detained and taken into custody, the other were not able to continue their activities for some reason.’’
