The three-day competitions in rhythmic gymnastics kicked off at the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku. On the first day gymnasts showed their mastery in exercises with hoop and ball. According to the results of the qualifications, the first two places in the both exercises were occupied by Azerbaijani gymnasts Marina Durunda and Jalya Pirieva, due to who the Azerbaijani team claims a gold medal in the team event. A high level was demonstrated by Uzbek and Turkish gymnasts, who both qualified to the finals of the exercises with hoop and ball.
