Today in Moscow on the eve of the Kurban Bayram holiday, the Cathedral Mosque was opened. Its area was increased 20 times to 19 thousand square meters after an extensive renovation, and has become the largest mosque in Europe. 10 thousand worshippers can simultaneously gather for prayers. The six-storey building is equipped with seven lifts and everything necessary for the congregation. Several rooms have large flat screens that will show what is happening in the central hall. The height of the main dome is 46 meters, it is 27 m in diameter.  Two minarets of 78 m were erected.

The mosque's opening ceremony was attended by presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, as well as the heads of Chechnya, Dagestan, Ingushetia and Tatarstan – Ramzan Kadyrov, Ramadan Abdullatipov, Yunus-bek Yevkurov and Rustam Minnikhanov. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev were also invited to the ceremony. The ambassadors of European countries and representatives of the traditional religions of Russia were present at the ceremony.
