Purim is celebrated in memory of the salvation of the Jewish people from the machinations of Haman, the courtier of King Ahasuerus or Artaxerxes. It falls on the 14th day of the Jewish month of Adar. In 2024, Purim will be celebrated on March 23-24.

The traditions of Purim are to have fun, exchange gifts, help the poor and lay a rich table, organize a carnival and dance, as well as a special festive performance - Purim shpil.
