On April 28 The New York Times published an article by Susanne Gusten, headlined «Weary Public Pleads for End to Clan Violence in Turkey». The author touches upon the problem of feuds between local clans in the Turkish city of Siverek.  She admits that all governmental efforts to calm the matter down have failed and tries to draw public attention to the problem.

The Guardian published an article about climbing in the Caucasus. The article is based on the diary of a Chicago Daily Tribune correspondent who travelled to the Caucasus in the first half of the twentieth century. According to the correspondent, climbing there is fascinating even though the weather is very cold in winter. Caucasian mountain valleys are extremely beautiful and picturesque, with the trees blossoming in spring and snow falling in winter.

The Moscow Times published an article devoted to the recent blast in Volgograd. The author underlines that while some people believe that Caucasian Islamist groups are responsible for the act of terror, local officials dismiss the claim. The blast took place on Tuesday; terrorists were trying to blow up police facilities. Luckily no one was injured.

Turkey’s Hurriyet published an article headlined «Now Erdoğan has a dream as well», devoted to the Prime Minister's recently announced plan aimed at saving the historical and natural riches of Istanbul by removing tanker traffic and some business out of the over 9,000-year-old city. Even though this project is more realistic than the one to build two new cites on the Eastern and on the Western Bosphorus shore, Prime Minister Erdoğan remains a populist politician, the author argues.
