Israel to protect Finland from missiles
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaFinland said it will purchase Israel’s David’s Sling missile defense system in an initial deal worth some 316 million euros ($344 mln).
“This acquisition will create a new capability for the Finnish Defense Forces to intercept targets at high altitude,” Finland’s Ministry of Defense said.
The purchase consists of a main contract worth about €213 million as well as the immediate exercise of options worth €103 million, and additionally further options worth €216 million, the ministry said.
The Finish announcement came the day after Helsinki joined the NATO military alliance. The transaction will require a sales release by the US government.
