US forces support transit of 3,000 ships through Hormuz

More than 3,000 commercial vessels have successfully passed through the Strait of Hormuz with support from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces over the past six months, CENTCOM reported.

According to the command, U.S. forces reached the milestone of assisting Gulf partners in exporting more than 1.5 billion barrels of crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz since summer.

In recent months, CENTCOM noted, over 95% of ships navigating the Strait of Hormuz have sailed through safely.
