Russia ready to renew flights to Abkhazia.
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaGeorgia today reports that the military transport aviation of Russia
is ready to renew direct flights to Abkhazia.
Viktor Kachalkin, a lieutenant-general, says that the first flight
took place in August, 2008. President of the republic Sergey Bagapsh
would be opened in July the next year. There will be 2 flights per
week, Russian aircraft will be used.
Igor Levitin, the Russian transport minister, pointed out that there
are two problems regarding the reestablishment of air transportation
to Abkhazia: technical problems at Sukhumi airport and lack of legal
support in the republic.
