Georgia today reports that the military transport aviation of Russia
is ready to renew direct flights to Abkhazia.
Viktor Kachalkin, a lieutenant-general, says that the first flight
took place in August, 2008. President of the republic Sergey Bagapsh
would be opened in July the next year. There will be 2 flights per
week, Russian aircraft will be used.
Igor Levitin, the Russian transport minister, pointed out that there
are two problems regarding the reestablishment of air transportation
to Abkhazia: technical problems at Sukhumi airport and lack of legal
support in the republic.
