Prosecutor to appeal Karachayevsk's ex-mayor’s sentence

 

The Karachayevsk City Court declared 39-year-old Soltan Semenov non-guilty in August 2014. The prosecutor plans to appeal the case. The Karachay-Cherkessia Supreme Court will hear the appeal on October 7, Interfax-South cites Jeanna Lafisheva, spokeswoman of the Supreme Court.The prosecutor wants Semenov recognized guilty of wasteful spending of budget funds and demand that the ex-mayor pays a fine of 300,000 rubles.The case against Semenov was initiated in February 2013. In 2012, he was granted funds for construction of roads, the sum was spent on other social projects. Semenov was detained on August 8 and arrested on the order of the Cherkessk City Court on August 9.
