Stale ‘revolution’

Stale ‘revolution’

The opposition movement in Venezuela has been stuck. Today it is absolutely clear that Juan Guaido, self-proclaimed president of Venezuela supported by Washington, cannot succeed rapidly. President-elect Nicolas Maduro has withstood. This, however, does not mean that a coup or a revolution initiated by Guaido has ‘choked’.  Experience suggests that the United States does not give up its plans so quickly and easily.

Exactly Washington but not Juan Guaido has finally become the number one enemy of Caracas. Previously, the ‘revolutionary’ had been regarded dismissively as ‘American puppet’, and today the Venezuelan authorities ‘recall’ him as a last resort - when it is impossible not to name him. The exchange of blows is carried out with Washington.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza called US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo "a face with shiny cheeks," and Colombian President Ivan Duque - an "ungrateful lackey." So the minister commented the meeting of Pompeo and Duque in the Colombian city of Cucuta, bordering Venezuela, from where the Secretary of State addressed Caracas with a ‘hypocritical call’ to open the border at least "to provide humanitarian assistance to the poor population." Arreaza called his move the halo of pharisaism - after imposing a criminal blockade against Venezuela Washington speaks about humanitarian aid.

"The consequences of the criminal blockade imposed by the US administration on Venezuela are incalculable. They bring death, suffering and poverty. And he with his shiny face proposes a pseudo-help during the show in Cucuta," Arreaza said. According to the Latin American Center for Geopolitical Studies, due to the American sanctions, Venezuela has lost 350 billion dollars since 2013. The level of cynicism of the US Secretary of State is off the scale, the minister said, calling the meeting between Duque and Pompeo "a demonstration of subservience and servility" and "the most low-grade and cheapest show." Arreaza reminded that the ‘abandoned’ town of Cucuta lives at the expense of the Venezuelan economy.

President Nicholas Maduro did not remain silent either, demanding from the United States "respect and the cessation of imperialist attacks", as well as a revision of all its hostile policies. He recalled that April 11 was the 17th anniversary of the attempted coup against revolution leader Hugo Chávez. "The people of Venezuela, full of dignity, once already defended themselves against conspiracies and attempts to impose loyal power from outside. Seventeen years ago, businessman Pedro Carmona proclaimed himself president, abolished the Constitution trying to remove Hugo Chávez from power. And today, Juan Guaido is trying to do the same with the US support. Then the people, the military, along with civilians took to the streets to repel the plotters, " Maduro reminded. He called today’s events in Venezuela "an attempt of a prolonged coup d'etat accompanied by threats of military intervention."

Meanwhile, the United States began to recognize the failure in the Venezuelan direction. But they are not willing to tolerate this. The American Spectator believes   that time plays into the hands of Caracas, and the more indecisive Washington is, the more difficult it will be to dislodge Russia and Iran who stepped in to support the Maduro regime. “We need to act despite the condemnation of many South American countries,” the article reads. The publication draws a parallel between the events in Venezuela and Syria, stating that the United States did not expect the conclusion of a de facto military alliance between Russia and Iran in this Middle Eastern country, as well as the fact that "Turkey’s perfidious alliance with Russia and Iran to keep Bashar Assad in power." In Venezuela, the situation is exactly the same. The Russian military and members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps are already in the country, and Ankara supports Caracas declaratively. Most likely, Cuban troops have come to Maduro’s help, and Venezuela has turned into a large joint base for foreign formations.

Offering another analogy -  with the events leading up to the Caribbean crisis - The American Spectator suddenly makes an amazing pirouette, declaring that the main purpose of the "seriously considered US military intervention" is not to topple Maduro, which will be the result of everything that happens. ”Our national security interest in Venezuela… is to bar Russia and Iran from turning Venezuela into a power base in the Americas,” the article reads. Needless to say that it is an attempt of an obvious substitution - foreigners came to Venezuela in response to Washington’s attempt to replace anti-American Maduro with pro-American Guaido!

According to the newspaper, Maduro will provide carte blanche to his allies to hold on to his position, after which "neither Moscow nor Tehran will peacefully withdraw from its presence in Venezuela." The US actions should be adequate, based on the Monroe Doctrine, according to which the Western Hemisphere should not be considered as an object for further colonization, and any attempt of this kind will be considered by the United States as hostile against it.

Washington is ready to declare Russia and Iran’s actions in Venezuela an attempt to colonize this state and thus acquire the right to actively intervene in the events. After that President Donald Trump must enlist the support of the American people, making a speech that the growing Russian-Iranian power in Venezuela is a threat to the US national security, and to tell Americans that "we must expel them by any means." "Time is not on our side. The longer we wait to take decisive action against Russia and Iran, the harder it will be to force them out of Venezuela. And forcing them out is, regrettably, our only option." - The American Spectator states.

Probably, it is necessary to remind those who provides a basis for the possible invasion of American forces into Venezuela about other components of the Monroe Doctrine. In particular, they guarantee the world community the non-interference of the United States in the affairs of sovereign states. Especially in the Eastern hemisphere. It could be quiet a ridiculous situation, if not numerous human lives that were lost.
