The cost of reform, or why Georgia didn’t succeed
Nikita MendkovichThe Russian Institute of Strategic Studies published the book by Nikita Mendkovich headlined “The cost of reforms, or why Georgia didn’t succeed.” It is a complex research of socio-economic and certain political changes which took place in Georgia in previous 9 years. The author believes that developments happened in Georgia after the Revolution of Roses are covered with thick fabric of myths, rumors, and prejudices. Many citizens of not only Georgia, but also Russia and other post-Soviet countries experience influence of these artificial myths. Mendkevich tries to look at Georgian reforms from the point of view of a professional economist. Considering statistics and other numerous sources, he analyses results of every reform – declared and real, positive and negative – including the police reform. He makes quite unexpected conclusions.
