The establishment of the republic of Ingushetia as a part of the Russian Federation has been celebrated recently. On June 4, 1992, the Supreme Soviet of Russia passed the law on the establishment of the
Ingush Republic. 19 years have passed since. These years were difficult for the republic. Ingushetia has endured these tests and established itself as a full subject of the Russian Federation. The Ingush autonomous oblast, with the administrative center in Vladikavkaz, created by the decision of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee on July 7, 1924, became the first state entity of the Ingush people.The main celebrations have been held in Magas and Nazran. A sports palace and amphitheater were established on that day. Some social, sports and medical facilities were also opened that day. Races were held at the Magas racecourse. The president of Ingushetia, Yunus-bek Yevkurov, headed the competition. A concert was also held in Nazran.
Addressing the people, Yevkurov said: «We went to Turkey in search of a better lot. An evil fate took us to the ice-cold steppes of Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Many people didn’t return from there. There were a lot of tragic moments in our history. But we believed that the good day when we’ll form the republic will come and we'll live peacefully and with equal rights, as good neighbours with the peoples of Russia, the country our ancestors gave an oath of fidelity to 240 years ago».
