Wikileaks: tortured diplomacy

The Wikileaks website has published another portion of the secret documents that are believed to be stolen from the US State Department's secret data base. The documents unveil the US diplomacy
of the last several years.

It isn't clear whether the documents are fake or not. Before publishing they were presented to such prominent world news papers as El Pais, Le Monde, Der Spiegel, The Guardian and The New York Times. The documents touch upon the interests of Russia, Italy, Germany, Iran, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey, as well as the USA itself. According to the administration of the website these documents could spoil the reputation of the USA.

The response of other countries was immediate. The Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Lavrov, announced that Russia will trust the actual activities of its partners rather than such dubious
information. The same opinion was expressed by the press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev. Azerbaijani officials prefer not to make premature comments, but admitted they are surprised. The Armenian authorities have announced that they don't trust the published information. At the same time, the President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has said that the documents have been falsified by the US administration itself.

It's quite possible that the documents are fake and that the whole action is a great provocation. For now, world leaders seem to sympathize with the USA.
