Last year showed that most of our young people don’t accept the norms of living in a secular state. They don’t want to live under our laws and don’t understand the role of the state in the modern world. The state is not there to solve your everyday problems; it is to provide appropriate conditions. These days, political parties don’t explain the role of the state to young people, they don’t work in schools and universities. That is whythere are no positive results this year for political parties.
I see another reason for the growth in extremism in the studies our Dagestan youngsters undertake abroad. In Syria, Pakistan and Egypt our boys are taught to fight against sin (haram). They come back home and become terrorists. Nobody cares that in Syria or Egypt haram is everywhere: tourists from all over the world tan on their beaches in bikinis. Does any public person in Syria appeal to young people in his country to kill people? No. Why do they appeal to our boys then?
Head of the press service of “United Russia”, Ullubi Erbolatov:
On the 1st of January the law on equal access of political parties to the mass media comes into operation. Equal access to the mass media is controlled by the federal authorities. The 7% barrier was changed to a 5% barrier. “United Russia” developed an anti-crisis programme and established several committees to control the level of prices on food and housing and community amenities rates.
Prosecutor Gadji Gadjiyev:
President Medvedev emphasized the role of fighting corruption. However, who will do it? The prosecutor is not good at it for various reasons. There is no specific body for fighting corruption. The president of Dagestan said that our young men become terrorists because of the unfair activities of law-enforcement agencies, as some of their special operations seem to be simply lynch law. The blame lies with our society, with all of us.
