Al-Monitor: "Iran's role in the settlement of the Syrian crisis is in no way impaired"

The US independent publication Trumpet wrote that the foreign policy of the United States is significantly inferior to Russia's.  During the last five years the administration of US President Barack Obama has repeatedly stated that ‘the days of Bashar al-Assad in Syria are counted’ and that ‘he should resign.’ However, the statement made by US Secretary of State John Kerry about the fate of the Syrian president says that America has completely changed its position on this issue. What for? To appease Russia.

Barack Obama, who stressed the relevance of the joint struggle against Islamic State, also says that Washington is ready to work with Russia. Such swings in US foreign policy only show that the current administration does not know what to do or with whom to cooperate in order not to lose its position in the world political arena.

Despite the fact that, according to the polls, the absolute majority of the citizens of America is against another military intervention in Syria, the decision was made by the leadership. However, the confidence of the US political elite in the correctness of their actions was shaken after Russia started to resolve the Syrian crisis. Now finding themselves in a difficult situation, since the military actions in Syria are not bringing the desired results, the US leadership has decided, on the one hand, to take Russia's stance on the Syrian settlement, and on the other hand, to put pressure on the situation in Ukraine.

Trying to keep a delicate balance in regions where, in fact, America should not be represented, the US government is losing its position in the country. The population of the state is tired of endless wars, and is already beginning to express its discontent. Apparently, the decline of US hegemony is not far off, and it is obvious to everyone except Washington. At the same time, despite the extension of the sanctions by the EU and the extension of restrictions by the US, Russia continues to implement its foreign policy successfully, acquiring more new partners. It is likely that a change of political polarity will happen very soon, and Russia will take a leading place in the world political arena.

The international publication Al-Monitor wrote about the role that Iran plays in Syria. Recently, Western media have repeatedly written about the fact that the number of Iranian troops in Syria has declined. Most likely, this has happened due to the number of losses on the part of Iran. However, the deputy head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has responded to these messages, stating that an increase or decrease of military force on any front is a natural act, and Iran's role in the settlement of the Syrian crisis is in no way impaired.

Iran's support for Syria is based on a number of strategic and immutable religious principles that are very important for the Iranian side. Therefore, it is obvious that the statements by the Western media about a decline of the role of Iran in the settlement of the Syrian crisis is the latest move in the framework of psychological warfare against Iranian-Russian cooperation. However, despite these efforts by the US and its partners to influence the course of events in Syria, they are doomed to failure, since both Iran and Russia are taking practical steps in the fight against ISIS, while the Western coalition uses propaganda methods to win some time. It is not known how long this kind of confrontation will last, but it is obvious that it will end successfully both for Russia and Iran, but not for the United States and its allies.
