Almonitor: ''Turkey would not allow the Syrian Kurds to establish their own state in Syria''

The US independent publication Zero Hedge reported today about the insolvency of the US foreign policy towards Russia and China. America's long-term plan for the advancement of national interests and countering its major opponents is in disarray. Senior officials are rushing from one crisis to another, inventing strategies that turned out to have nothing to do with a consistent policy. The root of this dispute is that the US authorities cannot decide who is a greater enemy to the state: Russia or China?

During the Cold War, all of Washington's aggression was aimed at reducing the power of Moscow. Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, after some time, President Bush declared war on terrorism, providing for a protracted standoff against Islamic extremists and their allies around the world. Since then, for the US, all world states are divided into two categories: those who are with it, and those who are against it. This policy eventually led to numerous wars, raids, occupations and military incursions. Meanwhile, Russia is strengthening its positions, both economic and strategic, acquiring new partners, and has gradually become one of the world leaders, as well as China.

The disorder in the strategic thinking of the Obama administration is striking: there is no agreement as of whom to make another enemy of the state, whether it will be the so-called Islamic State, or a Russia reviving after the crisis, or Iran with its non-existent nuclear program, or a self-confident China. Without a clear plan for foreign policy, the US is faced with the fact that more and more world countries are united in the struggle against American hegemony. As a result, there is a real danger that the once-powerful state risks losing its already shaky position in the world political arena.

In their choice of enemy, many American politicians point to Russia, fearing that a strong state in strategic and economic terms, which has managed to regain its strength after the imposition of sanctions, can become the most severe threat to the global interests of the United States. Jeb Bush expressed his opinion that NATO is the only force that is essential in preserving the basic principles of international order. That means, in other words, the presidential candidate does not exclude the possibility of another military intervention in the affairs of another state, with no apparent reason.

As a result, such a chaotic foreign policy sooner or later will lead to the fact that the United States, which fears external threats, will be destroyed by the internal political problems of the healthcare system, infrastructure, education, and environmental pollution. And exactly this internal discord, which has already started, gives Russia the opportunity to continue the restoration of its status of a super-power.

The USA magazine Almonitor, specializing in the problems of the Middle East, wrote today about a possible Turkish intervention in Syria. In his first public speech after the general parliamentary elections on 7 June, Presedent Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he would not allow the Syrian Kurds, whose nominal ally is the United States, to establish their own state in Syria.

Turkey does not seek to change the geopolitical situation in the region, but the country's leadership is ready to do everything to protect the state from attacks of the Kurdish rebels. In addition, Ankara reasonably fears a Kurdish alliance with Islamic State, which may lead to the border with the Republic of Turkey becoming a hotbed of tension.

At the same time, the country does not want to be engaged in an armed conflict with anyone else before using diplomatic means to resolve the crisis. In addition, the military elite of the country is in favor of discussing a detailed action plan with Russia and Iran. At the moment, the country's leadership is following the events in the region in case there is a threat, they will be ready to provide reasonable response.
