The anniversary of the clashes on the contact line in Nagorno-Karabakh, which has become notorious as a ‘four-day war’, is approaching. Then, in response to the provocations of the Armenian army, the Azerbaijani armed forces inflicted powerful strikes at the positions of the occupiers on the contact line of the troops, several settlements and important heights were liberated. This breakthrough gave hope for the speedy release of the entire occupied Azerbaijani territory. It is interesting that in the course of those battles, a number of defense products of the Azerbaijani manufacture were widely used: anti-tank grenade launchers, mortars and ammunition, sniper rifles, universal machine guns, including AK74M assault rifles, cartridges of various caliber, and drones.
Today, speaking at a meeting with a group of servicemen, in connection with the anniversary of the April events, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev noted that a year after the four-day war, the Armenian leadership continues its provocative activities: "After the April clashes, for a time, it was panic-stricken . Now, it seems that it is trying to shake off the stress and again making absurd statements, trying to threaten us, intimidate with some kind of weapon. It makes us laugh. They know, that today the army of Azerbaijan is very strong, today we possess such a powerful technique, weapons and ammunition, modern weapons that we are ready to destroy any strategic and military object of the enemy at any time. There is no such strategic and military goal that we could not destroy. We simply try to solve the issue peacefully."
According to Aliyev, during the April clashes Azerbaijan demonstrated only a small part of its capabilities: "Some put forward different versions, hypotheses that Azerbaijan planned to conduct the operation, which was stopped later. But we accomplished everything that we wanted. We achieved all goals that were put in front of us in the course of the counteroffensive operation. Military and international experts know that the strategic positions, which we received, have completely changed the situation. If we were going to conduct a large-scale operation during the April clashes, we would use our military potential. "
Ilham Aliyev reminded that the UN Security Council adopted four resolutions and demanded that the Armenian armed forces to be immediately and unconditionally withdrawn from our lands. Other international organizations have also taken the similar decisions. This creates a legal basis for resolving the issue.
"During the April clashes, Armenians appealed to the international organizations, separate countries, so that the battles were soon stopped. Then they began to blame some countries for not helping them. The Nagorno-Karabakh issue is our internal issue. Not any international organization or country can interfere in our internal affairs, " the Azerbaijani President said.
According to him, the April clashes destroyed the ideological foundations of Armenia. Today, the Armenian society is shocked and alarmed. Those, who are more pragmatic, more openly declare that if Armenia does not establish relations with Azerbaijan, it will not have any future. It is about the statement of the first President of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan, made recently, that Armenia should begin the return of the occupied territories to Azerbaijan.
Armenia sacrificed its independence for the sake of occupation of the Azerbaijani territories, Ilham Aliyev believes. "If they could create normal relations with Azerbaijan, today Armenia would possibly position itself as an independent country ... Because of this occupation, it has become completely dependent on different countries, various foreign circles, and international financial structures. Their economy is paralyzed, foreign debt has reached a critical level, and the poverty rate is 40-50 percent, there are no prospects. The leadership of Armenia, that chose this way, leads its people to the abyss today, " the Azerbaijani president believes.
"As a result of the April clashes, today the Azerbaijani flag flies on the territories liberated from the occupation in the Fizuli, Dzhabrail and Agderinsk districts. These clashes prove that the Azerbaijani people and the state will never reconcile with the occupation and at any cost will restore the territorial integrity of the country," Ilham Aliyev said.
