Azerbaijan presents Baku City Circuit

From June 17th to 19th, Baku will turn into an arena for a battle between 22 of the strongest Formula 1 drivers in the world. The European Grand Prix will be held on the Baku urban track, specially built for this tournament. The racetrack will pass directly through the city streets. The maximum speed is 300 km/h, making this track the fastest among all the urban stages of Formula 1.

Formula 1 is discovering a new country – Azerbaijan. The eighth stage of the World Championship will take place on the track of this city, which unites a rich history, cultural heritage and high-tech future of the entire country. History, culture, tradition, a glorious past and an exciting future – all of this applies to the capital of Azerbaijan.

The Baku track is 6 km long and includes 20 turns (8 right and 12 left). The movement is organized in a counterclockwise direction.

The first turn is a place of intense fighting at the very start of the race. A short straight line, and then another left turn, which takes drivers to a long straight line with length of over 1km. There will be a lot of overtaking during braking before the third turn. Then there is the fourth turn at medium speed, after which drivers rush to the junction of the fifth and the sixth turns, bringing them to the boulevard. The highlight of the track is the eighth turn, the most difficult and beautiful turn of Baku City Circuit. A small rise to the old town and a struggle at a speed of 300 km/h will continue on the way to the fifteenth turn – a great place for overtaking and battles, after which the drivers will descend to the waterfront – the most high-speed section of the track.

Who will become the winner? We will find out on June 19th.
