Business Council will help to realize Russia's and Azerbaijan's economic potential

The registration of free trade zone residents (FTA) on the territory of the Baku International Trade Seaport is to begin in January 2017, Trend reports with reference to the general director of the port, Taleh Ziyadov. FTA provides the development of the transport and logistics industry, the pharmaceutical cluster, a shared database of oil supply facilities, as well as areas of manufacturing, packaging, labeling and consolidation. The new port of Baku is ready to become the leading trade and logistics center of Eurasia. It is located on a strategic crossroads of Europe and Asia close to such major markets as China, Turkey, Iran and Russia.

Meanwhile, the expansion and development of business contacts and mutually beneficial cooperation between Russian and Azerbaijani entrepreneurs is being discussed today. According to the statement by the head of the Department of the RF Presidential Administration Planning for Interregional and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, Valery Maksimov, at the founding meeting of the Russian-Azerbaijani Business Council, the current economic situation requires activation of bilateral contacts in the field of entrepreneurship and business: "We have repeatedly raised these issues during inter-regional forums, which are held in turns: one in Russia, the next is on the territory of Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani side always met us halfway on these issues. The established Russian-Azerbaijani Business Council should be the 'locomotive' of Russian-Azerbaijani trade and economic relations."

Maksimov recalled that the idea of the creation of the Russian-Azerbaijani Business Council was discussed in different formats and at different levels: "In April, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev decided to intensify the council's activity. It is encouraging that the Russian business community supported this idea. I am sure that the Russian-Azerbaijani Business Council will actively contribute to the realization of the economic, trade and industrial potential of Russia and Azerbaijan.''
