Commissioning of Zira Juma Mosque complex during the holy month of Ramadan could be considered to be a perfect gift for the residents. It is also an important step in preservation of religious and spiritual values.
The opening of Zira Juma Mosque complex, built by the Aydin Gurbanov Foundation, was attended by First Lady of Azerbaijan, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva, who always pays special attention to national and spiritual values, as well as vice-president of the Foundation Leyla Aliyeva. They got acquainted with created conditions.
The story of construction of both old and modern type of Zira Juma Mosque complex is also interesting. The idea to build this religious temple belongs to the family of Aydin Gurbanov, famous for his charitable activities. He was one of the founders of the All-Russian Azerbaijani Congress.
Aydin Gurbanov was ready to help everyone. He supported orphanages, helped disabled, and also supported the fields of education and medicine for charitable purposes. To put it simply, he never forgot anyone who needed his support and attention, never refused to help them.
Works on restoration and reconstruction in the Holy Myrrhbearers Cathedral in Baku using personal funds at the request of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II also can be considered one of the greatest acts of charity of Aydin Gurbanov.
The opening of this temple was attended by the National Leader of Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev, who praised charitable work of Aydin Gurbanov.
One of the desires of Aydin Gurbanov, who is remembered for his good deeds, was the construction of a mosque in Baku. To realize that dream, he planned to start the construction of a mosque in Azerbaijan immediately after completing restoration works in the Holy Myrrhbearers Cathedral. But unfortunately because of illness this dream never came true.
Despite the fact that the construction plan was already prepared, in connection with his death, the idea was never completed.
His family decided to bring his dream to life, and a few years ago they began work on the implementation of this project. Construction works on the project lasted for more than two years and ended in 2016.
The place chosen for the construction of this mosque, which is considered to be modern, has an ancient history. 1000 years ago, an ancient sanctuary was located where Zira Juma Mosque complex currently is. In the XVIII century, a mosque was built in place of this sanctuary. It was very dangerous to enter this mosque, there were no conditions for religious community to existed. Later it became completely unusable. So a new mosque was built in the place of an ancient mosque.
This mosque is built in Shirvan-Absheron architectural style, which is characterized by laconic forms, both on the front and in the interior.
Mosque and the area around it will become one of the most interesting places for residents and visitors of the village. People who come to this complex with well-build territory, where a large green zone will created in the near future, will be able to walk around it and view a wonderful panorama of Zira from the minarets of mosque. It can be said that this mosque will basically become a community center of Zira vilage.
