Heydar Aliyev Foundation opens Jorge Marin to Europe

The Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku hosted the opening of “The Reconstruction of the Being” solo exhibition of famous Mexican artist and sculptor Jorge Marin. His works are well known overseas, they inspire dancers and acrobats to create performances, and exhibition "Wings of the City" is considered to be the most visited open air museum exposition in Mexico. His work has been exhibited in museums and galleries of France, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Germany, Belgium, Hungary, Romania, Costa Rica, Panama, El Salvador, Guatemala, Canada, United States, England, Russia, Belgium, Denmark, Latvia, Serbia, Singapore, China, Hong Kong and Indonesia.

"The Reconstruction of the Being" is the first exhibition of Jorge Marin in Eastern Europe. The exhibition features three bronze sculptures: Men within society, Men in space and Men as a body and as a mind. 

The opening ceremony was attended by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, which works on projects in education, health, culture, sports, science, technology, environmental, social and other spheres since 2004. The Foundation is headed by the First Lady of Azerbaijan, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO Mehriban Aliyeva.

Director of the Heydar Aliyev Center Anar Alakbarov said that "the Heydar Aliyev Foundation carries out projects of presenting pieces of art and culture in Azerbaijan, as well as in different regions of the world. Opening of the exhibition of works by artists of 1960-1980-s at the Biennale in Venice demonstrates Azerbaijan's great contribution to the sphere of art. Today, the possibility of bringing such exhibitions to Italy and the United States is being discussed. Exhibitions will open there in the near future. Since November 15, with the support of Mehriban Aliyeva, the works of our artists will be presented at the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow. All these projects are an important contribution to the promotion of culture and art of Azerbaijan."

Mexican ambassador to Azerbaijan Juan Rodrigo Labardini Flores welcomed visitors of the exhibition in Azerbaijani language and said: "We are very pleased that today this exhibition opens in Azerbaijan, in a majestic Heydar Aliyev Center. works exhibited here demonstrate Jorge Marin's great talent." According to him, the exhibition is a sign of friendship between Azerbaijani and Mexican people. He also noted that such projects promote further expansion of cultural ties between Mexico and Azerbaijan.

The exhibition will continue until March 31, 2017. The organizers hope that works of the Mexican sculptor, which perfectly blend with the internal design of the Center, will be appreciated by the citizens and visitors of Azerbaijan.
