The presentation of the 'Military Counterintelligence' book on the work of the  VChK, the OGPU, the NKVD, the KGB, the FSB was held in Moscow.

“More than 10 years ago, chief of the Military Counterintelligence Directorate Alexander Bezverkhny offered me to act as the literary editor of a two-volume deluxe edition for the 90th anniversary of military counterintelligence,” the author of the 'Military Counterintelligence' book, twice laureate of the Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service prize Alexander Bondarenko said. "A read large number of materials and proposed to make a book telling about the history of military counterintelligence. The book entitled 'Military Counterintelligence 1918-2010' was published by the Molodaya Gvardiya publishing house in the series Case. Number. It tells a story of military counterintelligence written in simple language. Recently, the Molodaya Gvardiya asked me to supplement it with a chapter about modern times. I got the materials and wrote a chapter."

Alexander Bondarenko also said that he gave each hero of the book a biographical background, a personal information file in the Seventeen Moments of Spring style: “The book has become 100 pages thicker. But this is not just a listing of names, but a story about each person.”

Former head of the Russian Military Counterintelligence Directorate of the FSB, Colonel General Alexander Bezverkhny said that the book is dedicated to one of the most closed structures in the special services system: "Military intelligence is an integral part of the Russian armed forces. There is a saying: 'The army is blind without intelligence, and but without counterintelligence, it's defenseless'".

Alexander Bezverkhny said that he had served in the state security bodies for 46 years, and in 2015 he led this structure, therefore he knows how significant the role of military counterintelligence is in ensuring state security, the country's security: “Now we are witnesses to the successful state of our armed forces, but there was a very difficult period in the 1990s. The army was undergoing difficult processes, never-ending reforms. Military counterintelligence was one of those key elements of the army's revival, because we had a unique opportunity to report the truth to the country's leadership about what is really happening in the army. Military counterintelligence is the ability to obtain and analyze objective information about the situation; it includes fighting against spies, preserving state military secrets, fighting against terrorism and corruption. Most importantly, military counterintelligence is an integral part of our army."
