Melitina Stanyuta: "The First European Games have their own peculiarity’’

The gymnast from Belarus Melitina Stanyuta has won a silver medal for her team in the individual finals of the exercise with a ribbon in rhythmic gymnastics at the First European Games. She shared her emotions about winning another medal with Vestnik Kavkaza.

- Are you satisfied with today's performance and the result?

- Yes, I am pleased with this performance, and the medals. Of course I wanted more medals, but I failed. But in principle, I performed the exercise well.

What can you say about the organization of the event?

Last year we performed here at the European Championship. We lived in the same houses and performed in the same gym hall. Everything is fine, at a high level. I look back on the London Olympics and the Universiade in Kazan. So well done, everything is prepared very well in Baku.

It was a very unusual experience to perform with acrobatics elements. It turns out that it is not only your site, but also somebody else's playground. Someone said, "Cool! It is possible to see everything in view.’’ This has never been the case in rhythmic gymnastics. But at the same time, the First European Games should have their own character. Apparently, here it is.

- Do you have any favorite sporting object?

- I don’t. I think a little girl can be asked this question, who just began to train: ‘‘I love the ribbon because it is beautiful, I love the ball, because it is soft, not like a hoop.’’ And I have trained so many years with all four sporting items, even with five, as we also used a skipping rope. I live with them in harmony, and I cannot choose one of them.
