Musical New Year's greeting

The main New Year musical and entertainment program in the USSR was the Little Blue Light. This television program united the Soviet Union even in those years when it was anything but united - during the collapse. The representatives of all the peoples of the USSR - Russians, Ukrainians, Byelorussians, Jews, the peoples of the Caucasus - appeared on the screens ... Soviet people learned about the personals lives of musicians due to the Little Blue Light. Soon after the wedding, Muslim Magomayev and Tamara Sinyavskaya sang a duet, and discerning spectators who did not know about the gossip column that time understood that they became a couple. Since then, they often sang together.

Rashid Behbudov from Azerbaijan also shone at the All-Union stage

... as well as the vocal quartet Gaya

... and, of course, the main Soviet vocalists - Georgians

After the Little Blue Light Soviet audience did not stop watching TV - they were waiting for the Melodies and rhythms of the foreign stage. In the program, even the songs of performers from capitalist countries sound. Let's remember some

Al Bano and Romina Power with their ‘Felicita’

Demis Roussos with his ‘Souvenirs’

Boney-M with their ‘Rasputin’

Joe Dassin with his ‘Et Si Tu N’existais Pas’

Mireille Mathieu with ‘Chao Bambino’

And, of course, ABBA with their main New Year's song of all time
