On September 20-24, the 9th International Circle of Light festival will take place in Moscow. The designers and audio-visual artists from around the world will transform the architectural appearance of the Russian capital in the framework of the event. For several autumn days, Moscow will once again become a focus of attention - light and colorful large-scale video projections will unfold on its iconic buildings, fabulous installations will illuminate the streets, and fantastic multimedia light, fire, laser shows and fireworks will remain in visitors’ memories due to unforgettable impressions and vivid emotions. Entry to all venues of the festival is free of charge.
Opening show
The opening of the festival will take place on Grebnoy Channel. The creative director of the LBL Communication Group, Vladimir Demekhin, said: “This year, our approach to the site is non-trivial, we completely changed the geometry. Now, the main projection screen is new construction, somewhat like a bridge that stretches from the shore of Grebnoy Channel to its spit. Our spectators will occupy not only the coasts but another three zones as well: a stationary platform, the spit and the end-face of the channel. Thus, we will form a water arena for video projections, fountains, lasers and fire shows. There will be a light musical entitled ‘Seven notes.’ The opening show will end with the 15-minute fireworks. The show with the fireworks will be repeated on September 21-22.
Victory Museum on Poklonnaya Hill
This year, for the first time, the museum will become the venue for the international Art Vision contest. The deputy director of the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War, Fedor Smuglin, said: “The facade of our building is a huge screen 270 meters in length and 25 meters in height. The projected image area is 7 thousand square meters. Spectators will see the best creative works in the ‘modern’ nomination. There will be 16 participants from 12 countries.
In addition to the contest on Poklonnaya Hill, the premiere of the light show ‘Space Odyssey’ will take place. The installation will take viewers to the stars, reveal the secrets of the mysterious phenomena of distant galaxies. Also, the videos dedicated to the military past of Russia and the history of Moscow will be shown. Viewers will see the video novels ‘Moscow is the capital of Russia’ and ‘The constructors of the Victory’. The first is dedicated to the history of the unification of Russian lands around the capital during several centuries, the second - to domestic gunsmiths and designers who created and developed weapons of the victory. "
Closing show
Closing of the festival will also take place on Grebnoy Channel. The idea of the final show is to explain what makes Russians a united nation. “The ceremony will also end with the fireworks, but we will change the geometry a bit. We will add two vertical cables to the right and left of the structure prepared for the opening show, which will allow us to change the design. We will have a lot of interesting new 400 mm caliber chargers. It will be both interesting and spectacular, " Vladimir Demekhin promised.
