Resolution of Palestinian issue will help reduce tension in the region

On July 10 the International Day of Al-Quds (the Arabic name for Jerusalem) will be marked, which was established in 1979 on the initiative of the Iranian leader Ayatollah Khomeini in solidarity with the Palestinians in order to attract the world's attention to the problem.

As stated by the Iranian Ambassador to Russia, Mehdi Sanai, "the Palestinian theme is one of the main issues of the Islamic world. Very many of the problems that we see in today's world, including in the Middle East, have arisen due to the unresolved Palestinian question."

"The terrorist attacks in the Middle East  are condemned by all rationally thinking people, and, of course, Islam and Muslims will never accept or support these steps. But the roots of radicalism lie in the unresolved Palestinian threads in frustration of the regional Muslim countries in the progress of a settlement," the Iranian diplomat said.

"Palestine and Israel have been negotiating for 15 years, but there is no tangible progress or results for the Palestinian people. At the regional level is necessary to deal with Palestinian topics that will help to reduce tension in the region," Sanai stated.

"The people living in the region have a special view on the solution of the Palestinian problem, the oppression of the people of Palestine is evident. It is necessary to ensure their rights on the basis of the Islamic Cooperation. It is necessary that the international bodies and organizations dealing with human rights pay more attention to this issue," the Iranian ambassador said.

According to him, "the approaches that the Islamic Republic of Iran is pushing are transparent, open and clear. The question of Palestine was fundamental from the beginning of the Islamic Revolution in 1979. And now it remains a stable principle of Iranian foreign policy. Protecting the rights of the Palestinian people is one of the main principles of the policy of Tehran, which lobbies for a democratic initiative for a solution to the Palestinian issue in the UN and the international community. The people of Iran, in accordance with the objectives of the Islamic Revolution and the content of the constitution of Iran considers this to be their right, their duty."
