Results of the cinematic season – 2015

Right now, leading cinema magazines, film bloggers and other fans of good films who joined them are actively summarizing the results of this year. The majority (rightly, in my opinion) believe that the season was fruitful for quality spectacle in almost all genres.

What films are mentioned in the majority of reviews?

Among animations there is only one favorite – 'Inside Out' by Pete Docter. There are no questions here. Pixar created a smart work, technically elaborate, childish to a certain extent, for adults to a certain extent. I fully support it.

The best non-Hollywood movie. There is a struggle between the Iranian 'Taxi' of Jafar Panahi and 'Youth' of Paolo Sorrentino. There are dangerous sectarians, promoting the 'Love' of Gaspar Noé. Panahi's minimalism and the political relevance of the film against the excruciating beauty and beautifully (dreadfully) withering aging of Caine and Keitel in 'Youth'. My choice is in favor of Sorrentino, although the style and personal courage of Panahi (to film while it is banned) deserves special recognition.

Action movie of the year, without a doubt, was 'Mad Max'. 90% of critics agreed that the 70-year-old George Miller defeated his younger competitors in the coming years in the part of fury and blood. I'm not a fan of 'Max', but I admit that technically and stylistically, the film is made flawlessly. Hardy and Charlize Theron act stunningly. Fury is rushing from all cracks. A new standard of the genre. So bring the prizes to the studio!

For the movie of the year there are a lot of contenders, but my favorite is the simple story of a woman's love (literally and figuratively) – 'Carol' by Todd Haynes. I will not delve into the story, because this film is simply a must see. Take some time, at least for the excellent role of Cate Blanchett. For me, the main contender for an 'Oscar' as the best film of the year. And Blanchett in the actress of the year category. The main competitor is Emily Blunt (Sicario)  Streep ('Suffragette'). But Meryl can recieve the 'Oscar' every year.

Although it is quite possible that the 'Bridge of Spies', 'The Danish Girl', 'Joy' and 'The Revenant' will create a tough competition for Haines' work.

Tarantino missed this time. There will be a separate post about this soon.

Actor of the Year - Leo! Academics better not ... Competitors – Hanks, Redmeyn.

The operator – no options. Lubezki for 'The Revenant'.

Director – the main competitors are Haynes and Inarritu.

Wait a little bit for Russian discoveries of the year. See you in the cinema!
