Last weekend the World Cup in Rhythmic Gymnastics and international tournament among juniors finished in the Italian city of Pezaro. As always, the Azerbaijani team showed remarkable professionalism and performances, although it did not gain prizes this time.
According to the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, the country was represented by teams in the group exercises and in the individual program at the World Cup. Finishing sixth in the all-round category, the group of Siyany Vasileva, Alexandra Platonova, Diana Doman, Aisha Bayramova and Elif Zeynep Dzhelepov got to both finals. In the finals the girls took 7th and 8th places with three pairs of clubs, two hoops and five ribbons respectively. Marina Durunda performed in the finals of the individual program with clubs and took 6th place.
At the international tournament among juniors Azerbaijan was represented by Zohra Agamirova, Ilaha Mammadova and Veronica Gudis. The best result was shown by Zohra Agamirova, who stopped a step away from a medal in the final exercise with clubs. Veronica Gudis got to the finals with skipping rope and took 7th place.
Recall that the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation ‘takes care’ not only of gymnastics. It began to develop women's gymnastics in 2013, and from 2014 it began to develop jumping on trampoline and aerobics. At present the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation includes six categories:
· Rhythmic gymnastics (Olympic sport)
· Men's artistic gymnastics (Olympic sport)
· Women's gymnastics (Olympic sport)
· Jumping on trampoline and tumbling (individual trampoline - Olympic sport)
· Acrobatic Gymnastics (non-Olympic sport)
· Aerobic gymnastics (non-Olympic sport)
