Russia and Great Eurasia

At a presentation of the Great Eurasia expert platform held in Russia, the head of the Foreign Policy think tank, Andrey Sushentsov expressed the opinion that the countries of the Eurasian space have accumulated the sufficient experience to create an efficient mechanism of interaction.

"The terms of partnership among the countries of the region are the established approaches to ensuring or achieving the key goals of the statehood in each of these countries. The first is the emphasis on protecting one's own sovereignty, the second is the emphasis on preserving the political stability, smooth developing without radical changes. The third is the focus on good-neighborhood and peace. The fourth is the emphasis on the joint economic development."

Sushentsov drew attention to the high level of trust-based relations that Russia developed with the PRC over the decades: "The foundations for this relationship were laid down in the 1997 declaration On a New World Order and Multipolarity, in which the two countries proclaimed their relations a new-type relationship not directed against third countries. By this document, they laid the foundation for the modern platform of the Russian-Chinese relations and stability in the region of Central Eurasia, Central Asia and Mongolia."

According to the expert, the key process that we will observe in the coming decades will be the establishment of the transcontinental economic and social processes: "Experience is the only thing that can serve as a fruitful basis for creating an efficient model in Eurasia. The fact that the Great Eurasia international expert platform will study the local and regional experience of the economic cooperation and maintain political stability, distinguishes this expert platform among other expertise formats.”

The rector of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Evgeny Bazhanov spoke about the prospects for the development of the Eurasian direction: ”The first, the cooperation with our neighbors in Eurasia is necessary for our economic modernization and solving the economic problems.

The second, it is necessary for us to meet our humanitarian needs.

The third, the cooperation with our neighbors in Eurasia will contribute to the strengthening of our security on a regional scale.

The fourth, the cooperation with our neighbors in Eurasia will contribute to their political stability. And their political stability is an extra guarantee of our internal political stability. There are terrorist organizations and religious extremist groups in many Eurasian countries. The growth medium for them is the unresolved economic and social problems in these countries. Due to this multilateral cooperation, we have an opportunity to solve these problems, and thus contribute to the stability of these countries, and this, in turn, is also necessary for us. When a neighbor is all right, we have an extra guarantee that we will be all right as well.

The fifth, the close cooperation with the countries of Eurasia will strengthen our positions in our relations with the West. We need to ensure that we have a reliable rear. Our relations with the West are uneasy, apparently, the situation will remain rather tense in the future."

In this regard, the Diplomatic Academy supported the initiative to create the Great Eurasia expert platform. "We deal with the Eurasian countries in various forms: the first, the representatives of the Eurasian countries defend their dissertations. The chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan, Kasym-Zhomart Kemelevich Tokayev, defended his doctoral thesis, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Jekshenkulov, the National Security Assistant to the President of Tajikistan, Rakhmatullaev; the chairman of the SCO, Alimov, the representative of Uzbekistan, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs. These people in their thesis work developed the topic of the Eurasian integration. The representatives of Korea, China also defend their thesis works with us.

We are partners with the leading scientific and educational centers of many Eurasian countries, have agreements with them, hold conferences together, publish monographs, textbooks, and guidebooks. In addition, we are dealing with this problem in the framework of our educational process. By order of the President of the Russian Federation, we train the representatives of almost all those countries that can be attributed to Great Eurasia - bachelors, masters, postgraduate students, doctoral students; provide advanced training courses for staff working in the foreign missions. We train our international specialists at the same refresher courses in the field of international relations, the world economy, international law. Among these courses, we hold 30 courses per year - the CIS courses, the Eurasian integration courses, the EEU courses, the SCO courses and so on, " Bazhanov said.
