The Eastern Committee of German economy demanded that the government of Germany to cancel the sanctions against Russia. The head of the organization Eckhard Cordes mad a statement that exports from Germany to Russia can be reduced by a quarter. In this was Germany is to lose $ 9 billion. The sanctions were imposed by Western governments due to the situation in the east of Ukraine, after the Crimea became a part of Russia. Moscow considers that the referendum, which took place on the 16th March in 2014 in the Crimea corresponded to the international law and the UN Charter, but Ukraine, supported by the West, still considers that the Crimea belongs to Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Czech politician Jiri Vyvadil said RIA Novosti that events in Ukraine were initiated by the Western countries in order to weaken Russia's geopolitical position. ‘‘The US planned to deploy its military base on the territory of the Crimea, but it became a part of Russia. Undoubtedly, in the military-political sense Russia is a superpower, which in the eyes of the non-Western world became the main leader of the intellectual resistance to the West and the United States,’’ said Vyvadil.
The former president of Afghanistan (2004-2014), Hamid Karzai, who visited Moscow, shared his position. "When the problems in Ukraine started, Russia reunited with Crimea. I stood on the side of Russia, and I recognized Crimea as part of Russia for historical reasons, because Crimea was handed over to Ukraine by Khrushchev in 1954, if I'm not mistaken. My decision was due to my experience of working with Western governments. I am concerned about heavy and interventionist approach of the Western countries - the United States, which made the decision to invade Iraq, Libya led to change of the governments," said Karzai.
According to his opinion, "In this situation, Russia cannot feel safe and cannot feel that its interests are respected and fulfilled. My attitude to the moral side of the question is explained by the fact that these Western structures are not working, the approach of the West is not working. The approach should be like this - everyone should have their own piece of the pie.’’
