Russia’s goals fit into global trends

The 10th Gaidar Forum kicks off today in Moscow, at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration. Traditionally, it will bring together scientists, government officials, public and political figures, businessmen from different countries - those who by their advanced achievements influence the socio-economic development of regions and states.

The rector of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, Vladimir Mau, said that traditionally, since 2010, the Gaidar Forum has been held a week before the Davos Forum: “This is the first discussion platform of the year, not only in our country but also in the world. As always, the common topic is Russia and the world. First Deputy Prime Minister Anton Siluanov suggested entitling  the current Gaidar Forum ”Russia and the World: national development goals and global trends”. To a large extent, the discussion will revolve around the goals set for the next 5-6 years."

According to Mau, the Russian national goals, including those set out in the May Presidential Decree, fit into the global trends, the development trends of the global developed economies: "They are human capital, infrastructure, state efficiency, digitalization. Look at the program of any political party in a western country and you will see the same words and tasks, of course, adjusted to the national specifics. "

According to Vladimir Mau, about 900 foreign participants will take part in the forum: “Despite all the political difficulties, we have a lot of working politicians. Usually, they are former prime ministers and ministers. This time, Singapore’s deputy prime minister and Italian Finance Minister, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of France, the Chairman of the Finnish Parliament and a number of other colleagues will participate in the discussions. More acting politicians appear.”
