Russky Island preparing for Eastern Economic Forum

The third Eastern Economic Forum will take place on Russky Island (Vladivostok) on September 6-7, intended to promote the accelerated development of the economy of the Far East and the expansion of international cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. The forum will be held on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU), which was built in 2012 for the APEC summit and has already become a central platform for scientific and business communication of the Russian and international expert community in the Asia-Pacific region.

Guests of the forum will participate in exiting sports and cultural activities. Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, Alexander Zhuravsky, said that on September 5 the forum will be opened by the 'Street of the Far East' exhibition. Along with the regions of the Russian Far East, the pavilion of the Republic of Korea will be presented at the exhibition for the first time. 'Street of the Far East' is a project designed to show the integral image of all the Far Eastern regions through tourism opportunities, which are based on a unique natural, cultural and economic potential.

In the evening there will be a street movie theater at the 'Street of the Far East' exhibition where novelties and recent blockbuster movies will be shown: The End of a Great Era, The Green Carriage, Battle for Sevastopol, Battalion, Flight Crew, The Age of Pioneers, Attraction. Also there will be a demonstration of short films and cartoons of Russian directors. On September 8, the audience will be able to see Indian movies.

Russian and foreign singers will perform for residents and guests of Vladivostok at the forum. On September 6, the Turetsky Choir Art Group will perform, on September 7 - the Indian Ocean band, and on September 8, the audience will see the Pacific Symphony Orchestra and soloists of the Primorye Regional Philharmonic Hall.

The repertoire of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre, including the Sleeping Beauty ballet, and the Moscow Soloists Chamber Orchestra, directed by Yuri Bashmet, was prepared for all days of the forum.

The Primordial Russia exhibition will be opened in the FEFU campus, where the visitors will be able to see Russia's natural diversity thanks to unique photos. Participants of the forum will also be able to visit the exposition of the regional museums.

A large number of sports events are also planned in the framework of the forum. In particular, a traditional charity run in support of the Far Eastern leopard and Amur tiger will take place on the Russky Island on September 6 within the framework of the Year of Ecology in Russia. Far Eastern corporate games, hockey and basketball gala-matches, as well as a mas-wrestling tournament will be held at the sports facilities of Vladivostok.

The central event of the forum's sports program will be the annual International Judo Tournament named after Kanō Jigorō among juniors until age 21, held in Vladivostok under the patronage of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Within the framework of the tournament, 2012 Olympic champions Arsen Galstyan, Mansur Isayev and Tagir Khaibulaev will hold a master class for young athletes.
