The Guardian: "US plans to hold direct talks with Russia on the situation in Syria"

The British publication The Guardian wrote about the negotiations between Russia and the US on the Syrian issue. The administration of US President Barack Obama plans to hold direct talks with their Russian counterparts on the situation in Syria and Russia's participation in resolving the crisis in the region. The US Secretary of State said that the future negotiations will be an important step in improving relations between Moscow and Washington, and could contribute to a resolution of the Syrian issue. It is not known exactly when the diplomatic meeting will take place but both sides are very serious about it.

Negotiations on the Syrian issue will be the first since that time, as the US suspended strategic cooperation with the Kremlin after Crimea joined Russia. The initiative to hold a meeting with the Russian military is due to the Pentagon's concern about military intervention by Russia on the territory of Syria. However, the Russian government for its part has repeatedly stressed the need to solve the Syrian problem exclusively by peaceful means and has repeatedly called on its US colleagues to take part in the negotiations. In addition, the problem of Islamic State, which is acute not only for Syria but also for the whole world, must be solved with the efforts of the expanded coalition.

The main problem is that the United States has its own interests in the region, and for the Obama administration it is more profitable to maintain a state of war than to resolve the crisis situation and put an end to decades of confrontation. However, through active steps Russia has once again shown the West that the military approach to addressing either the Middle East or any other region’s issues will not lead to positive changes. Only diplomatic steps and joint actions are able to resolve the situation in Syria.

The US independent publication Counter Punch writes that Iran will be able to survive, no matter what. Why is the West so concerned about the Iranian nuclear program? The state never attacks anyone, never conducts experiments on human beings, never aspires to world domination. However, Iran's leaders have always been able to protect their people in the face of US hegemony. That is why Iran exists as an independent state with a rich history, which is not absorbed by western culture.

US foreign policy, aimed at subordinating all the states which to some extent are a threat to its national interests, is not effective on Iran, despite the sanctions. Following the cancellations is less to do with a desire to alleviate the economic situation of the Republic, but with a desire to gain control over the country. However, Iran's leaders have already declared that cooperation with the United States is unlikely to happen.

Despite the anti-Iranian propaganda in the Western media, which was conducted for decades, Iran has been and remains one of the most peaceful countries in the world that fights terrorism by its own means and, unlike Iraq and Afghanistan, has managed to defend its independence. All attempts made by the United States to break the political will of the Iranian leadership have failed, and the signing of the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program will not bring the results that are expected by Washington. Iran, by contrast, will be able to take advantage of this opportunity to strengthen its position in the world as one of the few countries that can resist US foreign policy.
