The most hospitable country in the world

“Azerbaijani ‘sukka’ in Israel” is an advertising slogan in Hebrew. ‘Sukka’ is translated as “shelter.”

In recent days the slogan has been heard on one of Israel's major radio stations, Reshet Bet. It’s how popular radio journalist Nativ Robinson announced his three-hour program. The co-anchor of the program was a graduate of the Azerbaijani journalism school, the most popular anchor of Israeli radio on Russia Radio REKA, Victoria Dolinskaya.

“We are in the middle of the holiday of Sukkot; traditionally, people host guests in special tents – Sukka. So, I decided to devote our program 'Nativ Uljami' to the country which is the most hospitable in the world – Azerbaijan,” Nativ explained.

Guests of the program were the Deputy Ambassador of Israel to Azerbaijan, who finished his codence a month ago, Ronen Krauz; the mayor of Tirat Carmel, Arie Tal; the Director General of the international association of Israel-Azerbaijan AzIs, Lev Spivak; a deputy of the City Council of Tirat Carmel, a member of the Board of AzIs, Aviran Mishiyev, and the composer Elmar Fel.

They spoke about the history of Azerbaijan, focusing on the history of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and 20% of Azerbaijani territories occupied by Armenia, as well as about the role of the All-National Leader of the Azerbaijani nation, Heydar Aliyev, in establishing modern Azerbaijan. During the short term of his presidency, Heydar Aliyev managed to do for the country as much as Herzl, Zhabotinsky, and Ben-Gurion did for Israel together. They also spoke about the successors of his business – the current President Ilham Aliyev and the First Lady, the head of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva. The First Lady of Azerbaijan plays a leading role in the development of culture and sports in the country. She actively participated in the organization of the First European Games in Baku and Eurovision, which were held at the highest level.

Therefore, the talk smoothly shifted from politics to culture – music, cinema, a recent presentation of the joint album of the Israeli singer Hava Dolev and the Azerbaijani singer Nazim Faitonchu, and about the premiere of the movie titled “To Die Being Avenged. Letters from the Past” by the well-known Azerbaijani director Oktai Mir-Kasimov.

Whatever was discussed by the guests in the studio, they also noted the famous Azerbaijani hospitability and the very tasty and rich Azerbaijani cuisine. By the end of the program, all the guests received a calendar with recipes for Azerbaijani dishes, which was published by AzIs at the Jewish New Year.
