The majority of American voters have a negative attitude toward both Republican and Democrat nominees who are leading in the presidential election race, ITAR-TASS cites data of US public opinion polls. Sociologists found out that the prospect of a competition for the presidential position between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton was viewed negatively by the majority of voters. Two thirds of voters state that they will never support Trump; and 56% of respondents state they will never vote for Clinton.
The situation in the Democratic Party is quite difficult. One third of supporters of Bernie Sanders, who is the main competitor of Clinton, say that they don’t want to vote for Clinton if their nominee loses. However, experts believe that Hillary Clinton has to gain Sanders’s support to win the elections.
The situation in the Republican Party is also complicated. 30% of Republican voters support Trump; 27% support Ted Cruz; 22% support John Kasich; and 22% support Marco Rubio. At the same time, 64% of all voters view Trump extremely negatively, including 43% of Republican voters. 52% of Americans believe that if Trump is elected, the country will face “very negative changes.”
Analyzing the situation, Americanist Dmitry Drobnitsky says that “Hillary will have to fight in every possible way, not so much against Sanders’s supporters, but against the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Since almost certainly Donald Trump, already knowing with whom he will meet, will use his influence and the influence of his allies, who are very influential, to hang the FBI shadow over Hillary.”
As for the Republican Party, Drobnitsky states that “the votes that have been gained by Rubio and Ted Cruz, and a little bit by Kasich, are important, because the establishment will try so that Trump will not have 50% of the delegates plus 1 delegate. This will cause a riot at the final party conference in the grassroots party, which is known to support Trump.
