The International Association of Israel-Azerbaijan, AzIs, continues presenting the history, culture, modern realities and wonderful people of Azerbaijan to Israeli society. Wherever natives of Baku are living, far away from their homeland, their spiritual contact with Azerbaijan forever remains.
The constant spiritual ties with the Homeland became a source of inspiration for two wonderful Baku residents – Tatyana Speranskaya and Irina Pankova-Rotae – who created one of the most popular websites about Baku and the people of Baku with the nice name “Our Baku” http://www.ourbaku.com/
Tatyana Speranskaya, who is living in Canada today, and Irina Pankova-Rotae who is a citizen of Germany, always remember about Baku. They live with memories about their motherland, as well as collecting historical facts about the past of the fantastic city. Photos, articles and interviews with wonderful Bakuvians, items of Azerbaijani art, and memories of former Baku residents about the unforgettable part of their lives in the city are published on the website, preserving the history of their native Baku.
The Israeli Bakuvians were happy to meet both ladies who were in love with Baku – Tatyana Speranskaya visited the Jerusalem Russian Library, and Irina Pankova-Rotae visited the Azerbaijani Cultural Center in Aful. Their stories were full of details about every corner, every street of the city with their names – both pre-revolutionary and Soviet names, as well as names of the period of the new independence of Azerbaijan.
They described every more or less known building, names of not only prominent people of Baku, but also names of all the governors, mayors, specifics of their governance, and other rare facts about the long life of the city, which has a very rich history that deserves detailed research not only by fans of it, like Speranskaya and Rotae, but also serious scientists who have access to the archives and libraries of this interesting city with the short name of Baku.
The International Association Israel-Azerbaijan, AzIs, believes that it is its duty to promote the history and culture of Azerbaijan, its modern geopolitical situation and a positive image of Azerbaijan. It appreciates the great contribution by Tatyana Speranskaya and Irina Rotae to the propaganda.
