This week the Luzhniki Olympic Sports Complex hosted the International Rhythmic Gymnastics Tournament. Junior gymnasts of Europe were able to qualify for the 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games, which will be held from October 6 to 18 of 2018 in Buenos Aires.
More than 50 athletes from different countries of Europe participated in competitions, 18 of them qualified. Young athletes competed in exercises with ball, hoop, mace and ribbon. Russia's Anastasya Sergeyeva took the first place, she scored 62.3 points. Ukrainians Kristina Pogranichnaya (61.15 points) and Victoria Onoprienko (60.20 points) took the second and third places. The fourth place was taken by Anna Kamenshchikova from Belarus (59.85 points). Next was Valerya Sotskova from Israel, who got 59.05 points. Darya Trubnikova from Russia took the sixth place with 58.55 points.
Anastasya Sergeyeva discussed these competitions in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza: "These competitions are very important. The entire world, all countries participate. That's why it's very difficult to perform here, but I managed to do it. There are very strong gymnasts from all countries, from Belarus, from Ukraine. There are also new rules now - we have to fight for every point."
Azerbaijan was represented by juniors Elizaveta Luza and Darya Farshbavshahriari, who passed qualifying round and took the 14th place with 53.50 points. "Of course, not everything went well, but I will continue to work, try to perform better. I was very nervous, but I tried to calm down and concentrate on the performance," she said in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza.
