It has been already several months since a selection of young dancers aged 9-11 years old from the "Ingushetia" state folk dance ensemble for the "Future of Russian Ballet" program started in Ingushetia. Adam Aliyev and Isa Balkoev, who were noticed by professor of the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet will go to St. Petersburg for training. The Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet was established in 1738 at the initiative of the French choreographer Jean-Baptiste Lande. The first Ingush ballet dancer and choreographer, Honored Artist of Russia Musa Ozdoyev, entered the ballet school at the Bolshoi Theater in 1968, graduated with honors from GITIS and has worked as soloist in ballet theaters in Chisinau, Baku and Perm. At the moment Ozdoyev is artistic director of the Dagestani State Opera and Ballet.
“Ballet in Russia, in Moscow and Leningrad, is more than 200 years old. It began to be cultivated in the Caucasus only in the Soviet era… Some members of the media present the people of the North Caucasus as people running in the woods, doing nothing except for shooting machine guns. Maybe there are people like this, but I assure you that the majority are creative people,” Ozdoyev said.
