Dagestani art project in Moscow

In late November a series of arrangements devoted to the 25th anniversary of the Dagestan office of the Russian Culture Fund was held in Moscow. The Moscow House of Nationalities presented pictures by students of art schools and well-known artists Marat Gadzhiyev, Abdullah Bammatov, and Yutta Rottae; the children choreographic ensemble Namus where not only Caucasian children, but also Muscovites dance performed; the documentary “Dagestan. From the past to the future” was presented.

“Dagestan and Moscow seem to be far away from each other, but they are close and have similar problems,” Nikolai Komarov, the head of Moscow House of Nationalities, said.

This house became native for all nations, including Dagestanis,” Magomed Abdulkhabirov, the member of the Civic Chamber of Dagestan, stated. “Our country is searching for a national idea for reviving Russia, I believe, we need build and found such houses in all cities and districts of Russia and that will be enough - no expensive assignations and investments are needed. One always enters the house with pleasure and open soul. Unfortunately, we in Russia are being divided into ethnic groups and religious parameters by some forces. It is awful! We can come to the tragic fate of the Soviet Union. Every thinking person, every thinking Russian citizen has to consider this and prevent it. It is our motherland. Nobody anywhere needs us, except for Russia.

Dagestanis live in Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Germany, and America. But nowhere in the world you will see a Dagestani Sunday school which would be financed by the government like it is done in Moscow. We have to realize it. Nowhere in the world you can come for free and present your culture. None of the world capitals welcome us without huge financing.

Unfortunately, it is our tragedy that the mass media exaggerates negative moments. Whether they do it on purpose or accidentally I don't know. You can imagine that our convict Rasul Mirzaev is known better in the world than great Rasul Gazmatov. It is a tragedy!”
