On the eve of 2013, in many cities of Israel thousands of people from Azerbaijan celebrated the International Day of Solidarity of Azerbaijanis.

The central event of the Day of Solidarity was held in Netanya, where, according to tradition, conventions, conferences and meetings organized by the International Association "Israel-Azerbaijan" ("AzIz") have been held for a long time.

Speaking at the ceremony, the director of the Azerbaijan cultural center at the "AzIz", Egyana Salman, reminded the audience that the Day of Solidarity was declared by the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev, and now it is celebrated all over the world. "Being a visionary politician, Heydar Aliyev commanded the Azerbaijani people to be loyal citizens of the countries where they live, but never forget their nation and be loyal to their country," Salman said.

All the participants of the festive evening were presented with the magazine "Baku", which is sent to Israel by the editors specifically for the Azerbaijani diaspora. Other former Baku residents and people from different parts of Azerbaijan who spoke at the evening noted that in recent years the relationship between Azerbaijan and their part of the diaspora is not only far from decreasing, but is growing – including thanks to the successfully developing cultural and business ties between the two countries.
