Interview by Daria Melikhova. Exclusively to Vestnik Kavkaza
By the end of May the scandal over the lost 10 points from Azerbaijan for the Russian participant Dina Garipova paled into insignificance. Lawyers said that Russia couldn’t return these points because the charter of the musical contests didn’t require it. The scandal didn’t worsen Russian-Azerbaijani relations, and it was confirmed by the ceremony of marking the 95th anniversary of establishing of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic, which has taken place recently in Moscow. Vestnik Kavkaza managed to talk to the silver medalist of Eurovision 2013, the Azerbaijani participant Farid Mamedov
- Please tell us about your impressions on Eurovision.
- My impressions are very pleasant and nice. Eurovision will stay in lives of its participants forever because not everybody can be a part of it. It is very pleasant. A big stage. It is cool and pretty awesome.
- How was the idea for the performance born? And what is your song about?
- The director of the idea is Fokas Evangelinos. The song is about love. It is a ballad which is called “Hold me” as you know. It is a love story. Alexander, a dance from Philipp Kirkorov’s team, is inside the box; he describes my feelings; at the same time he is my shadow.
- What are your future working plans?
- In September I plan to give a concert in Baku, and probably in Moscow. This month we should record new songs and make videos for them. We are dealing with concerts, creative work.
- Do you have plans to go to Eurovision again and win it, like Dima Bilan?
- I don’t know, maybe if it is necessary. I am full of energy. I haven’t done anything yet, I am full of energy. I want to show people what they haven’t seen. And if I could, I would go to Eurovision again.
