The night from Saturday to Sunday was declared in Moscow the "Music Night”: the best Russian musicians performed at 150 sites for free.
"We have become accustomed to such events as “Museum Night "or "Biblio-Night”, the deputy head of the Department of Culture of Moscow Elena Zelentsova said. “The idea of "Music Night " was lying on the surface. We should just get together and connect the creative and organizational efforts in order to make it happen. The idea of this event is, of course , the revival and expansion of the festival life of the capital. Of course, this is a new exciting event for Muscovites. But at the same time, for the Department of Culture of Moscow, for those people who work in the area of creative, musical education in Moscow, this action has a deep and incredibly important sense. If you and I look at the map of Moscow and mentally put on it all the points that are music and art schools, we will see a vast network of 169 points located mainly on the outskirts. We need to deploy, like the Moscow museums with their exhibitions and events, the full power of our concert programs.
We talk a lot about the fact that our entire cultural life is concentrated within the Garden Ring, and outside of the ring nothing happens. Music schools will revive that life outside the Third Ring Road, giving an opportunity to those who live in remote areas to hear, to see the world-class musicians and to form a new cultural map of Moscow life. The "Music Night" is the first step to develop this area, to the cultural life and to maintaining a creative education of children and young people. "
According to People's Artist of Russia, saxophonist Igor Butman, "musicians have been willing to perform at such events for free. We owe so much to Moscow and to the residents of the city. The audience will be new, and we will engage it in such a way to music, to culture, to what we do, thanks to these concerts, thanks to a large promo action. For us it is a great pleasure and good fortune to play for those people who cannot get to any large concert hall. Now we go to them. Indeed, music schools should be centers of culture in all areas. I played in music schools, not only in Moscow but also in other cities. I raised these issues when I became more involved in public activities, saying that much should be played exactly for children, where there is training, where there is a development of our new generation that has a desire for good music, good culture. Travelling to different countries, I can see that our audience of music is much younger. We have more interest in this, as well as the desire to know more. Therefore, these events should be held every month. Thanks for the idea, it was about to be implemented. Moreover, everyone wanted and understood this at all levels. Now it all came together, and we will do it for the glory of our Russian culture".
