A new actress of almost infinite creativity was how critics described Bariyat Muradova. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Kumyk actress on November 19, a documentary exhibition "The First Actress of Dagestan" was opened at Theater Salon on Tverskaya Street. The exhibition includes costumes of Bariyat Muradova, photographs of the actress, scenery and sketches for plays.
"The exhibition is being held in the museum of the great Russian actress Maria Nikolaevna Yermolova, who played in the Maly Theatre. Yermolova ended her artistic career in the early XX century, while Bariyat Muradov took the baton. She is the same age as the XX century, and all the upheaval of the time, all those changes in the theatrical arts that took place, are of course visible in Bariyat Muradova's artistic biography,"the Deputy Director General of the Bakhrushin Theatre Alexander Rubtsov said.
The actress left a huge artistic heritage. She has played more than 200 roles. In her repertoire there were both classic and contemporary plays, multinational plays of the Soviet period and Shakespearean drama. Her Laura from Pushkin's "The Stone Guest" was considered one of the best. She was loved by her contemporaries, who admired her talent. Bariyat Muradova became the first People's Artist of the USSR in the North Caucasus. But even at the height of her fame she never forgot her native land.
"She was the first actress to acquaint Dagestan with the art genre of theatre. It was perhaps her greatest achievement. She visited many districts and villages - in those days it was not so easy. The attitude towards actresses in mountain villages was not the warmest, and she survived it all, and lived to the time when it was recognized," says Permanent Representative of Dagestan under the Russian President Emerald Mugutdinova.
Most of the exhibits were provided by the Museum of the History of Dagestani Theatre. The exhibition will run until December 14.
