A lot has been written about the correspondence between Tchaikovsky and von Meck, and indeed it is published in three volumes, and in early March in Moscow this correspondence was played by a violin and piano duo.

At the permanent representative office of Dagestan a musical evening was held dedicated to the 175th anniversary of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The duo Murad Abuev and Zalmira Abueva performed works by the composer as part of the program 'Memories of the Native Place', dedicated to the musician's correspondence with Baroness Nadezhda von Meck.

"For every person in our country, the name Tchaikovsky is certainly familiar, but in general for the whole world it is like a business card, like an extract of all the best that is in the Russian soul and Russian culture," Zalmira Abuyeva said.

Nadezhda Filaretovna von Meck was known for her patronage of young musical talents, among the highlights of which was the professor of the Moscow Conservatory, Tchaikovsky. They saw each other only briefly, for fear of polite conversation about nothing. Nadezhda von Meck was older than Tchaikovsky y almost 10 years, and he was unsociable and mortallly afraid of women. Their epistolary dialogue lasted thirteen years, during which more than one thousand two hundred letters were written. At the evening, correspondence from the first two years of communication, as well as works written during this period were read and played.

The Abuev duo are well known not only in Dagestan, their heartfelt playing has been heard throughout the entire North Caucasus. And they did not leave the capital indifferent.

"This is a wonderful concert, it's very complex music, although it is Tchaikovsky, the music is not very simple. Thanks to the organizers, and the permanent mission of the Republic of Dagestan for such a wonderful evening, this is a very good beginning, a continuation of the traditions of good concerts," associate professor and chair of music education at MGUKI, Timur Musaev, told Vestnik Kavkaza.

Speaking about Murad Abuev, Honored Artist of Dagestan Janet Shamasova remarked, "Murad Akhmedovich is the first performer of the violin concertos of Nabi Dagirova, Shirvani Chalaeva Valeria Shaulova, Magomed Gasimov. A poem- improvisation for violin is devoted to him, with the Orchestra of Dagestan composer Magomed Guseinov. We hope that this event will not only happen this year, because we have planned an evening in the House of Nationalities devoted to the seventieth anniversary of the Great Victory. Murad Akhmedovich and Zalmira Semenovna perform together with their students, and the students of the musical school of Elektrostal, on the basis of this evening, will be in the front-line of the poetry of Dagestani author-poets."
